Of
course I remember!
Dandelion
plumes soaring
In the
unbounded new-summer sky
And all
the children free once more
To laugh
and play and shout
And imagine!
Day upon
day
Swimming
in ecstasy,
Chasing
rainbows,
And maybe summer love
Throughout
a seeming eternity
Until
that stern old bell would toll
“Labor
Day”
And once
again
The dream
eclipsed
just nine
more months of school
